POLICE have released an image of two men they want to speak to in connection with an attempted robbery in Wigan.

At 2.45pm on Saturday, two men burst into Mesnes Road News and threatened a staff member and pushed over the till. The victim⿿’s husband chased the offenders from the shop.

Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, but staff were left shocked and the shop was in disarray, as the offenders pushed some display stands over

The first man is described as white, about 6ft tall, of slim, athletic build. He was wearing dark coloured shorts, blue trainers and wasn⿿t wearing a top but had a red t-shirt wrapped around his head and face.

The second man is described as 6ft tall, of slim build and was wearing a blue top, grey trousers and black trainers with some white material wrapped around his face.

Detective Constable Rachel Forsythe of Wigan division said: “Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, but staff were left shocked and the shop was in disarray, as the offenders pushed some display stands over.

“The offenders didn’t manage to steal anything but we want to catch them as soon as possible and I would urge you to contact police if you recognise either of the two men pictured in the images.

“It is possible that the men got into a silver Renault Clio after the robbery and I am keen to speak to anyone who has any information about this.”
