A VULNERABLE man’s wallet was stolen after a stranger invited himself into the victim’s home.

Police today condemned the deception, and appealed for anyone else who has fallen prey to the same crook to get in touch.

He struck at 11.30am last Thursday, calling at the home of a 64-year-old man in Worcester Avenue, Hindley.

The caller asked the occupant whether he would like to buy some cigarettes and then, without invitation, strode in. As the victim walked into his bedroom to get money, the man stole a wallet before running off.

The thief is described as white, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 11ins tall, of thin build, in his late 30 or early 40s and he had dark, cropped hair.

He was wearing a grey and yellow hooded top.

Insp Anne Scott said: “Once he saw an opportunity to steal the money, he took it, and has left his victim feeling insecure in his own home.”

Anyone with information should call 0161 856 7436 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
