POLICE met representatives of St Helens RL yesterday (Monday) to see if the club or Lance Hohaia wanted to press charges against Wigan Warriors prop Ben Flower.

The Saints half-back was knocked unconscious by a punch to the head two minutes into the showpiece event at Old Trafford and Flower then followed up with a second blow after the Kiwi crashed to the ground.

Hohaia suffered a suspected broken nose and took no further part in the final but after the game said that he would accept an apology from Flower if he wanted to make one, adding that all players make silly mistakes.

Flower, who was red carded for the attack, has since issued an apology, not only to Hohaia but also to his fellow Warriors, Wigan fans and the sport of rugby league as a whole, saying he had let them all down.

St Helens went on to win the Grand Final 14-6.

An announcement is due today on what action if any will be taken.
