RESIDENTS have won their battle to reinstate a seating area in a Wigan park.

Two benches have now been replaced in Swinley’s Marylebone Park, 10 years after they were removed because of anti-social behaviour.

When nearby residents asked for the benches, the three local councillors decided to help by using Brighter Borough funding.

Coun Lawrence Hunt, Coun George Davies and Coun Michael McLoughlin all attended the official reinstatement of the two benches.

Coun Davies said: “The new benches are back to give Marylebone Park a new look for the environment and for residents a resting place when they are on their way to the plantations or visiting the infirmary.

“And hundreds of new daffodil bulbs will be planted near to the seating.”

Milton Grove resident, Sheila Ramsdale, said: “A big thank you to our three local councillors for their input in bringing the benches back to Swinley.”
