The Environment Agency are continuing to monitor water levels on the River Douglas after issuing a flood alert for areas of Wigan following heavy rain overnight and this morning and more forecast tonight.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “Heavy rainfall overnight has caused river levels to rise. The rainfall is expected to have passed over by early afternoon.
“The Environment Agency will continue to monitor and will update if the situation changes.”
A flood alert means, although flooding is not expected to occur, it is possible, and people in the affected areas should be prepared.
