STAFF at a Wigan DIY store have taken part in an “oar-some” challenge in a mission to beat blood cancer.

Wickes workers are hoping to enter the Guinness Book of Records after their attempt to get the most people undertaking rowing simultaneously at one time.

More than £300 was raised on the day which will go towards the yearly target of £100,000 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Wickes manager, Tom Fitzgerald, said: “On behalf of all my colleagues I would like to thank everybody who attended for all their support with the company based rowathon ... let’s just hope we have broken the world record.”
