Runner becomes an inspiration to many

Alex Fisher was photographed by Dave Green as she ran in the Wigan 5k on Sunday.

The image was posted on Wigan Council’s Facebook page and has received a massive response.

Many people have praised Alex, with more than 1,600 people reacting to the post and 180 comments.

Alex, who finished in 45:04, commented on the Facebook post to thank everyone for their support.

Stuart Tagg, who will run the London marathon next month for UK Sepsis Trust in memory of his son Thomas, wrote: “This is what it’s all about. When you get people moaning about road closures and water bottles on the floor, look at this photo . Pure inspiration”

The inaugural Run Wigan Festival has been hailed a big success, with registration already open for next year’s event on Sunday, March 18.
