Schoolgirl airlifted to hospital following car crash

A schoolgirl was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car.

The emergency services went to Wigan Road in Ashton to help the 15-year-old girl shortly after 5.10pm on Sunday.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said they were called to a road traffic accident involving a car and a pedestrian.

The youngster had suffered head injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

She was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool by the North West air ambulance for treatment.

Someone from the car, which was a Vauxhall Corsa, was treated for minor injuries.
