A MAN blacked out at the wheel crashing into traffic lights at one of Wigan’s busiest junctions - just days after teenager Isobelle Woodall was killed in a crash just yards away.

At around 10am this morning (Wednesday) police were called to Central Park Way, just outside of Tesco, after a driver collided into the signals and bollards, completely destroying them.

Officers fear the man had blacked out at the wheel, causing him to crash.

He has since been taken to Wigan Infirmary to be checked over, but there are no reported injuries.

Experts from the Highways Agency and the council were called to clear up the debris and reinstate the traffic lights as quickly as possible.

Delays were expected for a number of hours.
