Second man charged with murder

A second man has been charged with the murder of Edward Wood.

Kevin Derbyshire, 32, of Findlay Street, Leigh, has been charged with murder and remanded to appear before Manchester City Magistrates tomorrow, May 14, and Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, May 17.

Police were called by the ambulance service to Railway Road, Leigh, as they were treating a man who was in a life threatening condition at around 11:45pm on May 4. He was subsequently taken to hospital where he tragically died a short time later.

The man has since been formally identified as 50-year-old Edward Wood.

Dwayne Turner, 28, of Railway Road, Leigh, appeared at Wigan Magistrates Court today, Friday, and was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool crown Court on Tuesday.

Two other men have also been arrested and released on police bail.
