STAFF and volunteers at Wigan’s Shopmobility charity shop have been in party mode all week to celebrate its first anniversary.
And they certainly had something to celebrate after pulling in more than £40,000 in the shop’s first year.
As well as birthday cake, coffee and refreshments staff and volunteers have been offering every customer who buys something this week the chance to enter their free raffle.
Deborah North, shop, manager, said: “This week’s celebrations have given us a chance to mark our achievement but also let people know that we’re here.
“It is also a way of thanking all the amazing volunteers and staff for the hard work and effort they have put in to make the shop as successful as it is.
“It has been a real group effort and the celebrations are as much about marking our first birthday as they are about celebrating all the effort that has gone in.”
Although it already has a good client base the shop’s staff are also trying to attract more customers to help support the charity, which provides mobility support for people across the borough.
Deborah said: “We want to let people know about the work that Shopmobility does, because for a lot of people we are a lifeline.
“We help people with limited mobility get out and about because without us many people would have to stay at home.”
