THE owners of a Wigan shop have donated £500 to a cancer charity.

George Hardie and Mark Forrest, who own and run Nisa Local stores in Gidlow Lane, Wigan, and Wigan Lower Road, Standish Lower Ground, have been fund-raising and collecting donations from customers and supplies in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Both stores have been raising money through the sale of specific products and have been able to donate £500 with the help of Making A Difference Locally, an independent charity created by Nisa to assist more than 2,000 independent retailers raise money for their local communities. Participating members are then able to choose local charities or good causes that they would like to donate to.

George said: “We chose to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support, not only because of the work it does nationally, but because of the links with our local community.”
