THE owner of a popular salon has come up with a hair-raising way of making money for the Joining Jack appeal.
Billionhair owner Kevin Boyd is offering to cut and shave the Joining Jack symbol into people’s hair to raise money for four-year-old Jack Johnson, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The snazzy hair style will cost £5, all of which will go towards the Joining Jack Appeal to fund research and find a cure.
Kevin said: “I cut Jack and his family’s hair and as I know them so well, I really wanted to do something for them.
“I already donate the first gents cut every day to the charity and I thought it would be a good idea to style the symbol into people’s hair, as a way of raising awareness and also helping get more money.
“I also want to get other salons involved and run a competition for the best Joining Jack symbol.
“Salons can take pictures and send them to the charity website and on Jack’s birthday, he can judge the winner with his dad, Andy,
“I did the first one for my nephew, Bradley Atherton, nine, and he really likes it.
“I think it would create a good buzz around Wigan.”
From September, Kevin has pledged to cut the hair of all children who are Jack’s age for free on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the winter.
“Instead of people paying the salon, they can donate the money to the appeal.”
Kevin, 48, also provides styling and cuts at the charity’s ladies nights and fashion shows, as well as the big events at DW Stadium.
