DOZENS turned out in Wigan town centre to show solidarity for striking workers at the New Springs Hovis bakery.

Members of fellow unions such as Unison, Unite and GMB supported their Bakers Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) colleagues, marched from Market Place to Whelley Labour Club.

Wigan MP Lisa Nandy, former MP Neil Turner and BFAWU national president Ian Hodson then spoke to the crowd at a public meeting at the Northumberland Street club.

BFAWU members are currently participating in their second week long strike over a dispute with Premier Food bosses about the use of agency staff.
