A WIGAN man has been sentenced to six years and eight months imprisonment for armed robbery.
George Montgomery, 57, of Bickershaw Lane, Wigan, was given the sentence after pleading guilty at Preston Crown Court.
The robbery took place at the Co-Op on Bolton Road in Adlington on October 10, 2013.
Shortly before 6am, Montgomery entered the premises through the rear shutter door by following a member of staff in.
He then brandished a handgun, pointing it at the manager who was told to pull the shutters down, before being forced to go into an office with his colleague. They were instructed to open the safe and put the contents into a bag. £650 in coins was taken.
