POLICE believe someone is harbouring the killer of tragic Wigan dad Francis Farrell.
And the officer leading the hunt for the 56-year-old’s murderer also believes the fatal attack was witnessed by at least one other person who may be too afraid to come forward.
But in an exclusive interview with the Wigan Evening Post, Det Chief Insp Joanne Rawlinson urged those with information about Mr Farrell’s death to get in touch to speak in confidence.
The victim, who had been drinking in Wigan town centre, was found collapsed outside the former Frog Lane tip in the early hours of Sunday June 17. It was a private hire taxi with several passengers abroad which made the grim discovery, Mr Farrell’s body lying half on the pavement and half in the road.
They tried to administer first aid and called the emergency services. Mr Farrell, who lived in Beech Hill, was taken to Wigan Infirmary but died four days later, having never come round sufficiently to identify his assailant.
