SCORES of homes were left without water in Standish after two problems with local supplies.
Worst hit were addresses on higher-lying land as pressure dropped first of all on Sunday afternoon.
Some had their water back on reasonably quickly, others got it back in the early hours of Monday, but then engineers from United Utilties had to go out for a second time as further residents reported little or no water coming out of taps.
Helen Wilson of United Utilities said: “We’re sorry about the interruptions in the water supplies experienced by some people in Standish.
“On Sunday afternoon we had a problem with a sensor that controls the pumps that feed the area with water. Our engineers resolved the problem later on Sunday but we believe a small airlock in the system caused further low pressure problems for some customers in the morning. This has now been removed and water supplies are back to normal.”
She said the company had received about 100 calls.
