THE stepfather of a Wigan five-year-old has admitted killing him.
But the trial of Elvis Lee continues at Cambridge Crown Court today as he continues to deny little Tyler Whelan’s murder.
Prosecutors told a jury that the youngster died after being punched, kicked and bitten by the 33-year-old and had been subjected to earlier attacks.
Beech Hill-born Tyler died in March last year after collapsing at his home in Sheepwalk, Paston, near Peterborough.
It followed three earlier admissions to hospital which had prompted doctors to contact social services.
Prosecutor Christopher Donnellan told Cambridge Crown Court that the boy had suffered “non-accidental” injuries including a broken leg and injuries to his genitals in the year leading up to his death.
Lee, of Crabtree, Paston, Peterborough, is in the dock with Tyler’s mum Stephanie Whelan who denies causing or allowing a child’s death.
