FIRE chiefs told how a Wigan man had a “lucky escape” after a stolen truck crashed into the front of his house.

Crews were called to Warrington Road in Ince at about 11pm on Saturday after a flat-bed recovery truck crashed into the front of a terraced house.

Watch manager Colin Moran told how a man inside the property had just moved to the back of the house when the crash occurred.

He said: “Substantial damage was caused to the front of the property and the man inside had a lucky escape. Luckily, his mother was out at the time too.

“We used acrow props and other specialist equipment to shore up the property and make sure it was safe.

“We then waited for building control officers from Wigan Council to arrive.

“The truck was badly damaged.”
