Cat DAscendis’ 26.2-mile run through the capital at the weekend really did take the biscuit.

For the 34-year-old set the (admittedly restricted) world record for the fastest female runner dressed as a gingerbread man.

She hoped to complete the London marathon in four hours and finished in three hours 46 minutes and 55 seconds.

Cat, who lives in Bickershaw, said: “I was so happy when I came through the finish. They told me straight away and I had my picture taken. The whole way round the marathon was phenomenal. The support I got was amazing, it was really good.”

Cat felt the heat inside the costume, but she was determined to keep going.

She was raising money for Burning Nights, which supports people with complex regional pain syndrome.
