MEMBERS of a Wigan church took a break and enjoyed a good cuppa to help Fairtrade.

St Aidan’s Church, in Winstanley, invited people to join them at a Big Brew event – a national initiative by Traidcraft, the UK’s leading fair trade organisation, which encourages groups to host a Fairtrade tea party during Fairtrade Fortnight.

The tea party was attended by local residents, members of St Aidan’s Church congregation and Ashton MP and Winstanley resident Yvonne Fovargue.

Event organiser Patricia Boyle said: “We have been selling Fairtrade products in St Aidans for about nine years. Most of our stock is purchased from Traidcraft and our profit goes to CAFOD both of whom helped in the setting up of the Fairtrade Foundation.

“I’m very grateful to people in Winstanley for their support for the Big Brew and to the Co-op for supplying goods for a Fairtrade raffle.”
