TWO teenage girls suffered horrific injuries after they were viciously attacked while walking through grounds near Haigh Hall.

The pair, both aged 14, were confronted by a gang last weekend as they walked along School Lane.

After a brief exchange of words they were chased before being dragged to the ground, punched, kicked and hit with what was believed to be a bottle.

Both schoolgirls were rushed to hospital with suspected fractures to their limbs and eye-sockets.

Samantha Clarke, mum of one of the victims, told the Evening Post she and fellow mum Rachel Lyon are speaking out to let the offenders know they will not get away with their crime.

She said: “I want people to know how horrific an ordeal this was. This gang acted like a pack of wolves and people need to know about it, I have been in shock. I know that most people think that Wigan is a nice place to live but something like this is appalling.”
