A WIGAN teenager, who was part of a masked gang that robbed a man at knifepoint, has been jailed for three years and four months.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that the three thugs’ victim was stabbed twice in the ambush and needed stitches in the wounds.
The judge, Recorder Richard Pratt QC, accepted that Steven Grimes had not been the knifeman but they all knew about the weapon and during the robbery Grimes or the other attacker said to “shiv” the victim.
The 17-year-old, who has previous convictions for knife offences, pleaded guilty to the robbery which took place on May 16 as the victim was walking in Skelmersdale.
The hearing was told that the victim was lucky not to have been more seriously wounded.
The judge ruled that because of the seriousness of the offence, an order banning Grimes, of Danbers, Up Holland, being identified by the media should be lifted. He said that it had “obviously been a terrifying ordeal”.
