TWO Wigan teenagers accused of assaulting a taxi driver will face trial at the magistrates’ court after denying all the charges against them.

Maximillian Molyneaux, from Orrell, and Luke Tempest, of Preston Road in Standish, both pleaded not guilty to assaulting Paul Mallon by beating in an incident alleged to have occurred on July 26 when they appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court.

Molyneaux, of Gathurst Road, also denied charges of causing criminal damage by vandalising a cupholder in a taxi and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Mr Mallon.

Carl Gaffney outlined the case for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) during a brief hearing while Martin Jones appeared to represent Molyneaux.

The two defendants, who are both 19, will now return to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court to stand trial on September 25.
