POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two teens were robbed by thieves who brandished a knife in a terrifying alleyway mugging in Wigan.
The victims, aged 19 and 20, were enjoying the sunshine at Dawber Delph quarry before being threatened by three men armed with a knife and two poles on July 17.
The robbers had been socialising with the victims prior to the incident, which occurred on the Apple Lane alleyway, which runs along the quarry’s perimeter, at just after 6pm.
Jewellery, mobile phones, a limited edition Tag Heuer watch and a bag containing house keys and bank cards were taken by the trio who threatened the victims with violence. Det Con Colin Filby of Lancashire Police said: “This is a serious offence and it is lucky that nobody was hurt.
“Due to the recent good weather the quarry has attracted large numbers of young people and I would appeal to anybody that was in the area at the time.
“It is likely the offenders will be trying to offer these items for sale in particular a Tag Heuer watch with a black face and silver bracelet or a grey and red faced Tag Heuer limited edition Fernando Alonso watch.”
The offenders, who immediately fled the scene, are described as white and spoke with a Liverpool accent. One was wearing a light blue jacket and shorts, the second a black t-shirt and shorts and the third a grey Berghaus jacket and blue Adidas tracksuit.
