The Business File

Welcome to a new regular business column featuring the boss of Wigan's big new shopping centre.

As the General Manager at Grand Arcade, I am delighted with all the successes we have achieved since opening last year.

We have won a number of awards, including the GMEC Partnership Award, Park Mark Award for our car parks and the Premier Business of the Year Award!

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who has helped Grand Arcade become such a successful, award-winning shopping destination!

Not only has Grand Arcade proved to be a favourite shopping destination with the local people of Wigan, celebrities from far and wide are now visiting our centre. Joe Delaney, author of the Wardstone Chronicles, came to the Waterstone's store to sign copies of his new book, The Spook's Mistake.

Also, Katie Price will be in Waterstone's at 4.30pm on Thursday July 24 to sign copies of her latest novel Angel Uncovered.

We were delighted that the George Formby Society chose to visit Grand Arcade during the May Bank Holiday Weekend. They were a credit to George, entertaining both customers and staff and transforming the atmosphere in Grand Arcade from a shopping centre to live music theatre!

It is events like these that make Grand Arcade a truly special and unique place. It's a little different, a little quirky and great fun! Recent events included the Green Awareness Day.
