CCTV images have been released in a bid to trace thieves who stole thousands of pounds from an elderly woman.
The 83-year-old woman used a cash machine at Natwest bank on Standishgate in Wigan town centre at around 11am on November 19, unaware that a man was watching while she input her pin.
After leaving the bank the woman was followed by the man and two women through Wigan town centre.
They then distracted her at the Griffin pub at around 12pm while one of the women removed the elderly woman’s purse from her hand bag.
All three walked away and got into a green Peugeot saloon car on Library Street.
The purse contained credit and debit cards that were used later that day in Bolton town centre to withdraw more than £7,000 in cash from the elderly woman’s account.
Greater Manchester Police have today, Monday, released CCTV images of three people they would like to speak to in relation to the crime.
Officers have examined CCTV footage from across Wigan town centre and are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man and two women.
PC Rodney Ashton said: “This woman was targeted in Wigan town centre and followed for some time until they had an opportunity to distract her and take her purse.
“We have trawled CCTV from across the town centre and we are now in a position to release three images.
“We would urge the public to take a look and call us if they recognise the people in the CCTV.”
