Town remembers Holocaust victims

PEOPLE across the borough came together to commemorate the atrocities of the Nazi concentration camps during World War II and other genocides.

Locals attended Holocaust Memorial Day ceremonies at the Museum of Wigan Life and Leigh Town Hall.

The ceremonies included readings from author Hilary Thomas and there were performances of poetry and song from Deanery High and Sacred Heart School pupils.

The event is Wigan was attended by the Mayor, Coun Phyll Cullen who has vowed to complete as many events as possible before she starts a course of chemotherapy in her continued battle against breast cancer.
