TRAIN lines have re-opened in Wigan after cable thieves struck on the railway line again overnight.
A massive 150m of signalling cable was ripped out from the Manchester to Wigan Wallgate line in the early hours of the morning.
Trains on the line have were diverted via Bolton while replacement bus services are running from Atherton.
Engineers worked hard to fix the track and the line was eventually re-opened shortly after 1pm.
Network Rail spokesman, Keith Lumley, said: “The theft took place half a mile to the Manchester side of Walkden station. The line lost all signalling.”
