THIS was the startling scene at the Saddle junction after a Porsche car got stuck under a lorry.
The driver of the black sports car reportedly collapsed at the wheel and lost control as his vehicle ploughed into the back of the blue HGV driven by Barry Pulford.
The incident happened shortly before 10am yesterday morning as both vehicles were in the right lane directly in front of Asda in Ormskirk Road at Newtown.
HGV driver Mr Pulford, of Shevington, described how he jumped out of his cab after feeling the car crash into the rear of his vehicle. He said: “I was just queuing at the lights and felt this vehicle crash into the back of me.
“Apparently the guy collapsed and just lost control of the vehicle.
“He doesn’t even remember how he got where he was.”
The driver of the Porsche came round not long after the crash to find the bonnet of his sports car lodged underneath the wagon.
An ambulance arrived at the scene to attend to the gentleman but left without him.
He waited with police until the lorry was lifted off his car.
Mr Pulford, who also works as a DJ in the town, added: “Thankfully the engines in these Porsches are in the back so it has done no great damage there.
“But it has cost him a lot in terms of his car and it’s the end of my day’s work because the back of the lorry will need fixing.”
An eye witness who drove past at the time described his shock.
He said: “It was just a weird sight to see this expensive car lodged underneath a wagon of that size.
“It had obviously only just happened when I drove past and paramedics were already at the scene treating one man.”
