WOMEN across Wigan are being encouraged to get their walking boots on to improve their health while raising money for a charity appeal.
Wigan and Leigh Hospice is spreading the word about the health benefits of walking in a bid to get more people to sign up for the event which it relies on as one of its main annual fund-raisers.
The Star Trekkers event is entering its fourth year and has raised more than £200,000 since its inception which goes a long way towards the £1.5m that the hospice must raise annually from donations to continue treating its patients, many of whom are suffering from terminal illness.
The Star Trekkers sponsored walk, which attracts hundreds of entrants each year, sees women take to the streets of Wigan for an evening walk around the town, which starts at 10pm on June 4.
Ring the hospice on 525566 or go online at www.wlh.org.uk to find out more.
