Tributes have poured in to the young Wigan mum who died at Wigan North Western Station.

Heartbroken friends and relatives of Charlotte Cash (above) have left scores of messages of sympathy for the mother-of-four following the tragedy.

Commuters on the south-bound platform - including Olympic athlete Jenny Meadows - were left stunned after witnessing the incident just after 3.15pm.

Athlete Jenny wrote on Twitter: “Feeling heartbroken that a young girl has just taken her life in front of me at Wigan train station. If in need please speak out.”

Damian Jones wrote: “Charlotte Cash may your beautiful soul rest in peace. I am proud to have been able to call you my friend.”

Police and paramedics from North West Ambulance Service were called to the station just after 3.15pm.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
