TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-loved Wiganer who devoted her life to serving the community.
The Curriculum Vitae of Rene Rigby who recently passed away at the age of 92, makes fascinating reading.
The pensioner who was initially brought up in Pemberton devoted her life to teaching and serving local parishioners at Wigan Parish Church.
Miss Rigby was known for keeping parishioners well hydrated with Sunday morning tea and coffee which she did up until six years ago.
She taught at several Wigan schools teaching domestic science, before moving to The Deanery in 1971 where she became head of the technology department.
