WARRIORS stars Sean O’Loughin and Sam Tomkins have been getting their kits off for a worthy cause.

Wearing only boots and Sport Relief socks, the pair braved the cold to strip off for the photo shoot.

The aim is to encourage Wiganers to enter the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile, on March 25, and support the Rugby Football League’s partnership with Sport Relief.

The Wigan mile will be held at Robin Park, with one-mile, three-mile and six-mile runs. A similar event will be held around Manchester City Centre.

The players had to man up and strip off before posing in the buff, with only a strategically-placed rugby ball to cover their modesty.

Round eight of Super League will be dedicated to Sport Relief, which means every game will be played with an official Sport Relief branded ball, and players from all clubs will be wear Sport Relief socks.

On Friday, March 23, before Wigan’s game against Warrington Wolves, there will be fund-raising events, such as face painting, outside the stadium.

Wigan Warriors was one of 11 clubs from Super League to go the extra mile to get people from all over the country to participate in the hundreds of Mile events happening across the UK.

Speaking about the photoshoot, Sam said: “I’m not in the habit of taking my clothes off in public, but I’m making an exception for Sport Relief.

“I’ve played some really fierce rugby, and have been involved in some really tough tackles, but nothing compares with the terror of baring all in the buff.

“Still, Sean and I really enjoyed the day, and hope we can encourage everyone from Wigan to take part in the Manchester Mile on Sunday, March 25 and the Super League-themed round later in the month.”

The charity is expecting more than a million people to take part in the Sport Relief Mile across the country. Warriors are also planning their own fund-raiser for Sport Relief.

Between March and June, Warriors club mascot Mighty Max will be going into schools, where pupils can pay £1 to dress in red and white and take part in the Mile, or join in a sporting event, with Max.
