SWIMMERS are being advised to check opening times at the Wigan Life Centre over the next few weeks as maintenance work takes place on both pools.
And for a start the learner pool is closed both today and tomorrow.
In order to accommodate those classes due to take place in the learner’s pool, Wigan’s main pool will be split in half and the moveable floor raised at one end to an appropriate level.
Wigan’s main pool will then close on Saturday, June 2, at 11.30am and re-open on Thursday, June 7, at 10am. Work has been scheduled to inspect and repair the water re-circulation channels surrounding the pool which have been leaking.
Coun Chris Ready, cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: “Like any new building there are ‘snagging issues’ that need ironing out. We are working with our construction partners to fix leaks from the water re-circulation channels around the pool.
“These repairs will be carried out as part of our maintenance agreement with the construction firm and the repair will not cost Wigan Council a penny.”
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, which manages leisure services on the site on behalf of the Council, today apologised to residents for the disruption.
