THOUSANDS of Wigan teenagers were planning their futures today after the borough celebrated another bumper crop of A-level successes.

Early indications suggest that the overall pass rates were as good as if not even better than last year’s results.

And of course there were astonishing individual performances with several brainbox students picking up five As and even A*s.

Winstanley College continued its quest for perfection with again one of the best success rates in the country.

Its 915 students achieved a 99.6 pass rate (A to E) across 40 subjects with almost 70 per cent of them getting A* to Bs.
