Wiggins wins Sports Personality Of The Year Award

ADOPTED Wiganer Bradley Wiggins has capped off an amazing year by being named the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year for 2012.

Wiggins, whose wife hails from Shevington, beat an all-star cast including Olympics golden girl Jessica Ennis and long distance double gold winner Mo Farah.

Wiggins, the Tour de France champion and Olympic gold medalist, picked up his award in front of a 15,000 strong audience at London’s ExCel Arena and a watching TV audience of millions.

Usain Bolt won the overseas SPOTY Award and the lifetime achievement, presented by David Beckham, went to Lord Sebastian Coe.
