Witness appeal after luggage theft

BRITISH Transport Police want to speak to these two men who boarded a train at Wigan and stole a tourist’s luggage.

The incident happened on Saturday, July 4, at around 9.40pm.

Investigating officer Sgt Andrew Tomkins said: “The victim, a tourist from Singapore, left her two rucksacks in the luggage rack at the end of coach C of the Birmingham bound Virgin service.

“Two men boarded the train at Wigan North Western station without any luggage and left the service at Warrington Bank Quay station each carrying a rucksack.

The tourist later discovered that her luggage was missing. We believe the men in the images could have vital information about the theft and we urge them or anyone who recognises them to come forward to assist us.”
