A woman had to be cut from the wreckage of her overturned car after a collision between two vehicles on a Wigan council estate.

The crash involving a black BMW and grey Hyundai Amica occurred on Thicknesse Avenue, Beech Hill, shortly after midday today (Friday).

Members of the public tried to help and looked on as the emergency services attended the scene including firefighters who used specialist equipment to free the casualty in the Hyundai.

Her condition is currently unknown.
