X FACTOR boyband Kingsland Road will turn on Wigan’s Christmas lights next week.
They may be smarting over their shock exit from the competition but town centre bosses were quick to snap them up to push the button on November 14.
Kingsland Road were finalists in the 2013 TV contest but were sensationally axed from the show on Sunday after being voted into the bottom two alongside show favourite Tamera.
Wigan’s Christmas lights switch-on event takes place between 4pm and 7.30pm in the town centre with the five-piece boyband performing on stage and then turning on the illuminations along with a host of other stars on the huge 60ft stage.
The evening’s hosts, radio presenters Danny Bee and Luke Marsden, will welcome and introduce the acts on stage, including Ricky Birchall, A Me B, Olly Jacob, Olivia Archbold, Zoe Unsworth, Heidi Anne and Scott Chapman along with Myth of Unity and The Keith Teeth.
Wigan Athletic dancers and Wigan Warriors cheerleaders will perform on stage and join in with the town’s free festive event, which launches late night shopping in the town with stores open until 8pm.
Grand Arcade general manager John Sanson said: “This will be an unmissable Christmas spectacular with this year’s light switch-on event.
“Join the crowds in Wigan town centre on Thursday November 14 to watch X Factor 2013 finalists Kingsland Road perform along with lots of other talented star acts light up the town for Christmas.”
