IN response to your article on the shock rise in the numbers of people using food banks, we are on benefits ourselves due to my husband’s disabilities, we are lucky in that we are never hungry.
We are careful and grateful for what we get and use our benefits sensibly. We donate to the food bank when they collect at our local Asda.
As someone else said the food handed out is only for three days and you can only access them three times a year.
There is no way that anyone can use the food banks to live.
It only takes one life situation, accident, sudden disability, job loss, and you could find yourselves in the same boat.
Up the creek without a paddle. A little compassion from those who think all of us on benefits have it easy.
While there are some who are working the system there are a lot more who are not.
