Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has emerged as a shock target for Aston Villa who could miss out on signing Scott Carson from Liverpool.
Arsenal keeper Lehmann, 37, has been released from The Emirates and was expected to return to Germany.

But Martin O'Neill is planning a surprise move for Lehmann if talks between Villa and Liverpoool break down over Carson's future.

Carson has been at Villa since August in a season-long loan move.
