Sven-Goran Eriksson has thanked Manchester City fans for their remarkable show of support as he faces the growing prospect of being sacked when the season ends.
The former England boss saw his side lose 1-0 away to Liverpool on Sunday, with Fernando Torres scoring his 32nd goal of the remarkable season, but the Manchester City fans packed into the Anfield Road end maintained a barrage of support for their manager.

"The support for me was fantastic, of course it is. They have been fantastic all season, incredible," said Eriksson. "Maybe it will not affect things, I don't know."

He added: "We have one week to go until the season is finished. I would appreciate it if people would accept that we will start talking (with City owner Thaksin Shinawatra) after that.

"We will not be talking tomorrow, more so next month."
