Caldwell gives his tip for Euro winners
Despite the Spanish having ended the group phase on a downer thanks to a loss to Croatia, Caldwell reckons Vicente del Bosque’s side are best equipped to lift the trophy for the third time in a row.
“I think Spain look the team to beat for me,” admitted the Latics boss.

“If they can beat Italy, I think they’ll be hard to beat.”
Caldwell had been planning to get over to France for a few days to enjoy the festival of football.
But the proud Scotsman says that’s looking more and more unlikely as more pressing matters at home present themselves.
“Work’s pretty much overtaken that, and I’ve been too busy here to think about that,” he admitted.

“Without Scotland being over there, there’s not really any quality or competition!”
Despite England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland having all reached the last 16, Caldwell admits his homeland’s failure to make it has killed a lot of the enjoyment.
“I don’t really care to be honest!” ha laughed.
“I thought Scotland were in a qualifying group that was tougher than any group in the finals.”
