WIGAN Athletic midfielder Adam Forshaw has completed a switch to Championship rivals Middlesbrough.
Forshaw leaves after spending only four months at the DW Stadium, having arrived from Brentford on deadline day of the last transfer window, moving to the North East for an undisclosed fee.
Manager Malky Mackay admitted the bid for the 23-year-old was a surprise, but felt the offer on the table was good.
Mackay said: “The deal had to be in the best long-term interests of Wigan Athletic.
“I can only say that in the short time we worked together I found him to be a terrific professional but for one reason or another it’s not worked out here and we wish him the very best of luck at Middlesbrough.”
