Andrew is Taylor-made for Trotters

Bolton Wanderers have swooped for defender Andrew Taylor on a two-year deal following his release from Wigan Athletic.

The left-back spent last season on loan at the Macron Stadium, making 40 appearances and helping the Trotters regain their place in the Championship at the first attempt.

He’d also spent the previous campaign out on loan at Reading, having fallen out of favour with then-boss Gary Caldwell.

“It’s fantastic to get it all tied up so early in the off-season,” said Taylor, 30.

“As soon as last season ended I was keen to speak with the club and thankfully we’ve got everything sorted.

“Last season was fantastic and we’ll all be looking to kick on.”

Taylor was brought to Wigan by Uwe Rosler in the summer of 2014 on big wages following his capture from Cardiff.

But he became something of a fall-guy on the terraces as Latics - pre-season favourites for promotion - somehow got relegated to the third tier during his only campaign in the side.
