Graham Barrow has revealed striker Omar Bogle is fit and raring to face Reading this weekend on the back of a solid week’s training.

The January arrival from Grimsby has missed the last five matches since injuring his thigh at Newcastle on April 1, but has proved his fitness behind closed doors at Euxton.

“Omar’s trained again this week, and he is in contention,” revealed Barrow.

“He wasn’t right last week, I spoke to him last Saturday morning, and he wasn’t positive enough for me.

“Now he’s another week on, and we need to use all the artillery at our disposal.”

However, centre-back Jake Buxton has not made the trip south as he nurses a minor foot fracture.

“Jake struggled in training on Thursday and he won’t make it,” said Barrow.

“You know Jake, he would have taken painkillers and all sorts to play if he could.

“He’s not played all that much football over the last couple of years, and maybe that’s caught up with him a little bit.

“He’s had a fantastic season on a personal level, and hopefully there’ll be something to play for next week.

“But I’m not worried about that area of the pitch.

“We’re well covered in that area. I thought the back four were fantastic last week.”

Part of that back four against Cardiff was fit-again Reece Burke, who was back after four-and-a-half months out with a hip problem.

“Reece is almost a throwback to the olden-day footballer,” added Barrow.

“He cares about his job, he cares about the club he’s playing for. He’s just very keen to play football.

“I know some people might think that’s a bit of an obvious statement to make, but it’s not always the case in reality.

“He loves the game, he wants to progress, he wants to be a top player. He’s a credit to his club and himself.”
