ANDREW Taylor says the international break has come just at the right time for Latics.
The left-back believes a fortnight without a game will help the side pull together and kick-start their season.
Uwe Rosler’s men haven’t picked up a single victory since the last break but Taylor reckons this one will work in their favour.
The 28-year-old was open and honest in describing the performances in their winless run of six games as “not good enough.
“The last international break came at the wrong time on the back of two very good wins against Blackpool and Birmingham,” said Taylor.
“This break has come at a better time for us as a group. Yes we’ve had a couple of decent performances in the last two games but, on a whole, that little period of games has not been good enough and it’s down to us to put it right.
“We’ve not had the best of starts but there’s a hell of a long way to go.”
Rosler said that he would tweak things during the break to ensure his players come out the other side raring to kick on and push up the Championship table.
“A few lads have gone away in the break but we’re working a lot on our fitness,” added Taylor.
“We’re working on things that will hopefully help us kick on into the vital Christmas period.
“You look around the squad we’ve got and for me, it’s one of the best squads available in the Championship.”
