NICKY Maynard’s arrival at Wigan Athletic has provided a ‘perfect scenario’, according to Uwe Rosler.
The Cardiff striker finally put pen to paper yesterday on a loan deal at the DW until the end of the season.
Latics were interested in Maynard two years ago when he was at Bristol City, but finally got their man at the second time of asking.
The 27-year-old joined Cardiff in the summer of 2012, but fell down the pecking order after suffering with injury.
But Rosler insists the loan deal could end up benefitting all parties.
“Nicky is at the stage of his career where he wants to play regular football again after his injury last season,” the Wigan boss said.
“He wants to prove a point to himself and also to the people.
“That’s a perfect scenario for us, it matches our ambitions.
“We want to prove a point – we want to go up, we want to into the play-offs and I think we can give him the platform to perform again.
“I will be patient with him because he has not played in a while.
“But, he’s fit, and he’s ready to go.”
Maynard will wear the No.29 shirt at Wigan, and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s Championship game at Doncaster Rovers.
