OWEN Coyle has welcomed Callum McManaman’s pledge to stay at Wigan and help them battle back into the top-flight.
The midfielder enjoyed a sterling breakthrough Premier League season and starred in their FA Cup success. Despite attracting interest from other clubs, McManaman made it clear he intends to stay at Latics.
And Coyle believes he can go on to become a key player in their promotion quest once he returns from an ankle injury.
The new boss said: “I came to the game against Swansea and he was outstanding.
“Every time he got the ball the crowd was out of their seats because they thought something was going to happen.
“There’s no doubt he is an outstanding talent, but we have to balance that against the number of games he has played. He is still a kid, but I believe he is destined for a huge career.”
